Your entryway offers a glimpse into your personality. It should also feel inviting after a demanding workday. Therefore, it’s essential to have a tidy entryway to begin the process of unwinding after work. In my case, there is a small entryway in my tiny apartment. I neglected to design the doorway for many years, leaving it empty and disorganized with scattered shoes. But this was not the best way to promote stability and mental calm. I believe that only three doorway furniture pieces are enough to update the entrance on a low budget: a large mirror, a contemporary, slender table or shoe rack, and a large indoor plant with low maintenance needs. It should cost around $100–150 if you shop around for the cheapest options.
Here, I will share my research and design ideas from Pinterest, which I used as inspiration to organize the entryway in my tiny apartment. I will also share 10 tips on how to organize entryways in tiny apartments who want to design the foyer space like me.
Summary
ToggleGo Creative with Mirrors
Personally, I am a big fan of having a mirror on the entryway. These mirrors give an open look to a tiny space. There are many designs to choose from. Try to get a big, rounded mirror. Round mirrors make the decoration look more uniform. But you have tiny space like mine, get a smaller one that hangs on the wall. Mirrors, in my opinion, are indispensable elements in any entryway, amplifying both style and practicality. I recently bought a 10-inch “Hanging Circle Mirror Wall Decor Gold Round Mirror with Hanging Chain“ for just $20. These smaller mirrors are multipurpose, and you can use them in the bathroom, bedroom, or vanity if you choose to upgrade the space.

Choosing Between a Wooden Bench and Shoe Cabinet
I decided to get a shoe rack to organize my disorganized shoes. Purchase a shoe cabinet rather than an open rack. It will give a more neat appearance as the shoes won’t be displayed. My shoe rack does not have a bench. If you don’t have a lot of shoes, consider getting a multipurpose bench with storage and a shoe rack at the bottom. The price varies according to the design, size, and usefulness. Recently, I have seen people buying these natural rattan designed cabinets and those cabinets cost around $100–150. Browse more for cheaper options. If you want to keep things simple, you can get a simple wooden bench.

Touch of Green with Trees
Adding a splash of green in your entryway can absolutely improve the ambiance by giving it a more natural look. The refreshing green color creates a calm space when you walk into your home. Whether you choose leafy palms, succulents, or ferns, including greenery in your doorway design will leave a lasting impact. Additionally, these plants can regulate the environment at home and create a fresh ambiance.

Cozy Vibe with Cushions
To create a warm and inviting doorway, add pillows. This is a really low-cost way to give a boring-looking design some color and texture. Avoid adding too many pillows because they will appear clunky. One or two cushions is sufficient for a light and airy look. The size of the pillows is determined by the dimensions of your bench.

Renter-friendly Hangers and Racks
For renter-friendly and cheaper options, consider adhesive hooks or removable adhesive strips. These options will allow you to hang jackets, keys, bags, or coats without damaging the walls. Repurpose things like wooden dowels or branches as DIY coat hangers to add a unique and customized touch.

Rags or Welcome Mat
The significance of a rug or welcome mat is frequently underestimated. It establishes the tone for visitors and can introduce a new dimension to the limited space of a tiny apartment. Opt for a square rug for smaller spaces, but for a more defined area, consider a circular rug to anchor all entryway furniture. It’s important to note the distinction between a rug and a rag: rugs are larger, while rags are more suitable for compact spaces.

Lights and Lamps
A great way to provide sophistication to the doorway is to add light fixtures and lamps. The correct fixture can greatly improve the entire ambiance, whether it’s a wall sconce, pendant light, or ceiling light. For a renter-friendly option, consider purchasing a table or standing lamp that can be plugged in. Alternatively, for a more upgraded and energy-saving choice, you can invest in a motion-sensing lamp.

Welcoming Wall Art
You can use your favorite wall art to adorn the wall if you’re not a huge lover of entryway mirrors. These don’t have to be purchased from pricey exhibits. Your favorite sayings, movie phrases, or locations can be DIYed. The wall art need to convey something about your personality and have significance. To further showcase your unique style and experiences, think about adding components like family portraits, mementos from trips, or handcrafted artwork. Your entryway will seem more appealing and feel more like home when you decorate it with items that are special and unique to you.
Colorful Background to Separate the Entryway
If a separate area for these decorations isn’t available, consider using a darker color than the rest of the room to evoke a sense of distinct space. Choose a color that compliments your home’s main decor plan while also providing a clear visual separation. Neutral tones, such as soft beige or light gray, can create a subtle backdrop that accentuates the doorway without taking over the room. Alternatively, you might use a strong accent color to create a statement and give individuality to the space.

Experiment with Different Furniture
Experimenting with different furniture options allows you to customize your entryway to suit your personal style and needs. If traditional benches or shoe racks don’t appeal to you, think outside the box by incorporating unconventional pieces like a large sofa or similar furniture. Remember that the primary function of the entryway is to provide a welcoming transition into your home, rather than serving as a lounging area.
Consider adding multifunctional furniture with built-in storage to keep the space clutter-free and open. By carefully selecting the objects in your entrance, you can create a fashionable and welcoming atmosphere without sacrificing usefulness or aesthetic appeal.
